The SoftIce/W PHYS command is handy for this purpose. The PHYS command searches the page tables to find all linear addresses that correspond to a given physical address. The command PHYS 6EE000 yields two linear addresses. The second of these addresses is FFBFE000h, which is in the 4MB range of memory reserved for page tables. Given that we can find the page directory in SoftIce/W, we should be able to prove or disprove what I said about context switching by setting a hardware write breakpoint in the page directory. If the breakpoint doesn't go off, context switching is probably accomplished some other way. If it does go off, it's a strong indicator that context switching is accomplished by manipulating the page tables. Also, the location of the write should give us a clue as to what's responsible for switching contexts. Running this simple experiment in SoftIce/W confirms that the page directory is being written to on a regular basis.
